Alfred Nzo District Municipality is inviting applications from eligible candidates for the position of General Assistant (16 posts available), graded at Task Grade 05, with an annual basic salary of R128,193.22 plus benefits.
About Alfred Nzo District Municipality:
Situated in the north-eastern region of the Eastern Cape, Alfred Nzo District Municipality spans from the Drakensberg Mountains. It shares its borders with Lesotho in the North, Sisonke District Municipality in the East, and O.R. Tambo District Municipality in the South.
Key Performance Areas:
- Excavation and backfilling trenches to specified levels using hand-held tools.
- Installation of pipes, laying cement mixes and soil to reinforce structures using hand-held tools.
- Clearing and removal of blockages, debris, and invasive vegetation from drainage systems and manholes using hand-held tools.
- Assisting the artisan plumber in marking work areas, holding measuring tapes, and inserting level indicators.
- Receiving instructions from and providing support to the artisan plumber, preparing work sites accordingly.
- Undertaking additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
- Grade 8 or ABET Level 03/Higher or equivalent qualification.
- 6 months related experience in water and sewer reticulation/plumbing.
- Physical capability to perform manual labor by hand.
- Proficiency in at least one of the four languages spoken in Alfred Nzo District (English, Xhosa, Sesotho & Afrikaans).
