Silulumanzi plays a pivotal role in the daily delivery of approximately 120 million liters of safe drinking water, meeting the needs of roughly 400,000 people within the City of Mbombela Local Municipality. As a subsidiary of South African Water Works (SAWW), a proudly South African water utility entrusted with the responsibility of providing water services to the City of Mbombela under a 30-year concession contract, Silulumanzi holds a distinguished position.

Established in 1999, Silulumanzi boasts a remarkable track record of over two decades in the water industry. Drawing on the expertise of former international shareholders such as Sembcorp, Cascal, and BiWater, Silulumanzi has evolved, fostering the development of local skills. Today, their management team and shareholders are proudly 100% South African.

What Are the Requirements for Silulumanzi’s Water Industry Bursary?

To be eligible for this bursary, applicants must meet specific criteria, which include:

  • Holding a Grade 12 qualification with a Bachelor Pass.
  • Attaining a Level 6 pass in Mathematics and Science.
  • Providing proof of acceptance at a South African accredited tertiary institution.
  • Demonstrating proof of residence.

Preference will be given to:

  • Previously disadvantaged individuals.
  • People with disabilities and females.
  • South African citizens residing within the contractual concession areas where Silulumanzi operates.

What Expenses Does Silulumanzi’s Bursary Program Cover?

The bursary program covers a comprehensive range of expenses, including:

  • Registration fees
  • Tuition fees
  • Accommodation fees
  • Prescribed books and study materials

Additional Information:

Bursaries are awarded strictly on the basis of academic merit. The bursary is renewable on an annual basis, contingent on academic performance. Upon successful completion of their studies, bursary recipients are expected to join the organization as interns, serving a duration equivalent to the number of years they were sponsored.

Completed application forms may be submitted either by post to the Bursary Department, Human Resources, PO BOX 12753, Mbombela, 1200, or by hand-delivery to any Silulumanzi Customer Care Offices in the aforementioned locations.
